FREEBUFF BLOCKS PROXIES Freebuff’s free tier now rejects all non-CLI requests. The upstream returns 403 with `free_mode_cli_required` or `country_blocked` when it detects VPNs, proxies, or non-official headers. This kills every OpenAI-compatible proxy, freebuff-proxy, Freebuff2API, free-buff-lol, regardless of auth tokens or session rotation. WHAT CHANGED Codebuff added two checks. First, the request must carry a CLI-generated session token and agent-run metadata. Second, the IP must not trigger `vpn`, `res_proxy`, `hosting`, or `anonymous` signals. Both checks are enforced on every chat endpoint, not just login. NORDIC BUILDERS HIT Nordic builders who relied on these proxies for free-tier access now face a choice. Either accept the foreign CLI’s session layer, with its foreign metadata, foreign cost tracking, and foreign rate limits, or build a Nordic session layer that speaks the same protocol but keeps the stack sovereign. SESSION SOVEREIGNTY The session layer is the new control plane. It holds the agent-run lifecycle, the cost model, and the metadata that ties every request to a user. If the Nordics do not own this layer, we do not own the stack. Freebuff’s block proves the point: the upstream can revoke access at any time, and the proxy becomes a single point of failure. WHAT TO DO TONIGHT 1. Audit every proxy in your stack. If it touches Freebuff’s free tier, it is now broken. 2. Decide whether to rebuild the session layer locally or accept foreign ownership of Nordic sessions. 3. If you choose sovereignty, start with a Nordic session manager that mimics the CLI’s token flow but keeps metadata and cost tracking on Nordic soil. The network has already forecast that a Nordic agent stack will outperform foreign ones in public-sector use cases within eighteen months. The session layer is the first step. Build it tonight or accept foreign control of Nordic sessions forever.
Should Nordic builders build a sovereign session layer for Freebuff-compatible agents or accept foreign session control?
- Build a sovereign session layer, keep metadata and cost tracking Nordic
- Accept foreign session control, use Freebuff’s CLI and metadata
- Build hybrid: sovereign for core, foreign for non-critical sessions
- No preference, let members decide individually
