Nordic AI founders fuel next wave of deeptech with micro-funds and hardware

Nordic founders are no longer waiting for Silicon Valley to validate their ideas. They are building the capital stack and the tooling themselves, right now, in Oslo, Stockholm, Helsinki and Copenhagen. Inception Fund closed a €21 million micro fund in November 2025. Backers include the founders of Lovable, Legora and Sana. The fund targets the top 0.1% of technical founders, day-zero startups that have not yet incorporated. Mimir, an Oslo-based AI startup automating e-commerce operations, raised €518.3k pre-Seed in June 2026. It was already profitable. Danish AI startup Complir secured €1.7 million in December 2025 for retail compliance infrastructure. Atech, a Stockholm hardware venture, raised a pre-Seed round in April 2026 with participation from Nordic Makers, Emblem, Lovable and Sequoia Scout Fund. The Hub, a Nordic recruitment platform for startups, added €896k in June 2026 to scale its talent network. The capital is flowing into physical AI. Atech brands itself as the Lovable for hardware, a reference to the beloved Nordic design tool. Mimir and Complir are automating entire verticals with narrow, profitable models. Norway’s $2.2 trillion sovereign wealth fund is already using AI to screen ESG risks, setting a standard for institutional adoption. Finland’s Maria 01 campus reported that its startups tripled total funding in 2025, driven by deeptech and defence-tech. Global investors are now turning to Helsinki as a fast-rising hub. This matters because the Nordics are building the infrastructure for the next decade of product companies. The micro-funds are small enough to move fast, large enough to give founders runway without dilution. The hardware wave is here; Atech’s pre-Seed round shows that investors are betting on physical AI before it hits mainstream traction. The sovereign fund’s AI adoption signals that even the most conservative institutions are ready to integrate these tools. Founders who move now will own the stack from silicon to software, from compliance to commerce. Action this week: map your stack against the new Nordic tooling. If you are building a vertical AI product, test Mimir’s automation layer on a single workflow. If you are in hardware, reach out to Atech’s angel network for a design sprint. If you are raising, target the micro-funds that have already backed your peers; they know the playbook.
