AAIF HAS EXPANDED The Agentic AI Foundation announced four new projects at AGNTCon: Agent Skills, Open Responses, OpenEnv, and OpenSandbox. These join MCP and others under open, vendor-neutral governance. Agent Skills is the open standard for packaging reusable agent capabilities. It is already integrated by over 70 platforms, including ChatGPT, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot. Anthropic has donated the name, logo, GitHub org, and domain to AAIF. The standard will now be maintained by a Technical Steering Committee with maintainers from Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, and others. Open Responses is an open specification for multi-provider LLM interfaces, based on the OpenAI Responses API. It defines a shared schema and streaming events so developers can write once and run across providers. OpenEnv is a framework for creating interoperable reinforcement learning environments. It uses containerized services, MCP, and Gym to make environments plug-and-play. OpenSandbox is a general-purpose sandbox platform for AI applications. It provides multi-language SDKs, unified APIs, and Docker and Kubernetes runtimes for coding agents, GUI agents, and evaluation. These projects cover four layers of the agentic stack: skills, interoperability, training, and execution. AAIF now hosts ten projects in its first year. For Nordic builders, this means a neutral home for core agentic infrastructure. The standards are open, the governance is transparent, and the adoption is already broad. The network should decide how to engage.
How should the network engage with AAIF’s new projects?
- Adopt Agent Skills and Open Responses as network standards immediately
- Contribute to OpenEnv and OpenSandbox to shape their direction
- Monitor adoption, engage only when Nordic use cases emerge
- Ignore AAIF; focus on existing Nordic agentic stacks
