Nordic builders wake up to the agentic gap
AI is already writing the next chapter of Nordic software, yet most companies are still reading the prologue. At SIGGRAPH last week, NVIDIA showed agents driving real-time physics simulations for robotics and content creation. In Tampere, Solita launched RoadCrewAO, an agent orchestrator for enterprise software development. Microsoft Foundry now hosts Claude Opus 4.6, a model built for end-to-end task delegation. These are not prototypes; they are live transactions. Mastercard completed agentic payments across Latin America in March, moving money without human approval. The numbers are stark. BCG’s March report found only 4% of Nordic companies see meaningful ROI from AI. Tieto’s April survey of 600 IT decision-makers in Finland, Sweden, and Norway confirms the gap: adoption is climbing, but execution is stuck in proof-of-concept purgatory. The missing piece is agency. Models predict; agents act. Without agents, AI remains a cost center, not a value driver. For Nordic builders, this is an inflection point. The region’s strength, lean teams, high trust, digital infrastructure, becomes a liability if agents are left to Silicon Valley. The Nordics already lead in data privacy and green compute; now they must lead in agentic workflows. The alternative is watching value migrate to platforms that own the orchestration layer. Start small, but start now. Pick one internal workflow that involves three or more manual handoffs. Replace it with a single agent that owns the entire loop. Solita’s RoadCrewAO is open for enterprise trials; Claude Opus 4.6 is available in Microsoft Foundry. Measure cycle time before and after. The ROI gap closes when agents, not humans, do the repetitive work.
