Horndal is 150 km from Stockholm; Boden sits on the Arctic Circle rail line; Västerås is a 40-minute train ride from the capital. The servers are moving into the towns where the builders live. Why it matters. The Nordics are building the physical layer of the AI stack inside existing communities. That means new jobs, new heat contracts, new fiber loops, and new reasons for talent to stay or return. It also means new tensions: power grids are maxed out in Stockholm and Oslo; local councils in Luleå and Oulu are debating water rights for cooling towers. The human layer is where the trade-offs happen. One thing you can do this week. Map the data centers within 100 km of your home town. Reach out to the facility manager and ask for a site tour.
